New research has revealed the country’s ten areas with the highest number of sales of newly built homes, with new-builds accounting for up to one third of all sales in some regions.
The list was put together by Zoopla and named Milton Keynes, close to London, as the UK’s hot spot for new build homes. According to the data, about one third of property sales in Milton Keynes over the past year involved a new-build home.
Crewe, a town close to Manchester, came in second place with a percentage of 29.6% of new build property sales over the same period of time.
When analysing the data, Zoopla found that those areas with a high percentage of new build home sales appear to have higher house prices overall. On average, property prices have increased by 30% in those areas where more than one quarter of home sales are new builds.
In comparison, the national average for property price growth only sits at 23% over the same period.
For the whole country, new housing sales account for one in ten property sales every year. The exact figures, however, vary significantly depending on the area.
These new figures are so powerful because they give a better understanding of the most popular areas for new homes outside of London and show that areas such as Milton Keynes and Crewe benefit from investment from developers and interest from buyers.
