A new research looked into the best postcodes to let properties to students across the UK. Buy-to-let landlords, watch out and do your research as some of these spots might come as a surprise to you.
Online mortgage lender, LendInvest, looked at 2016 average rental yields in areas with at least one of England’s or Wales’ top universities featured on the latest league table compiled by the Complete University Guide.
Whilst Sunderland ranked top with an average rental yield of 6.5%, Manchester came in second with a rental yield averaging at 6.2%, followed by Liverpool at 5.5%.
Other surprises include that Cambridge may be ranked as the country’s top university, Oxford, however, offers investors a better return. In Oxford, the average rental yield stands at 3.9% compared to only 3.6% in Cambridge.
